How to Choose the Right Dumpster Size

Picking the wrong dumpster size is one of the most common mistakes homeowners and contractors make. Too small and you're paying for a second haul. Too big and you're wasting money on unused capacity. Here's how to get it right the first time.

10-Yard Dumpster: Small Jobs

The 10-yard is our smallest container — about the size of a pickup truck bed, but taller. It's ideal for single-room remodels, small roofing jobs (1–2 squares of shingles), garage cleanouts, and yard debris. It also fits in tighter driveways.

Best for: bathroom remodel, small kitchen update, garage cleanout, 1–2 square roofing job.

15-Yard Dumpster: Medium Jobs

The 15-yard is a great middle-ground option for medium remodels and larger cleanouts. It holds about 15 cubic yards of debris — roughly 4–5 pickup truck loads.

Best for: kitchen remodel, deck removal, multi-room cleanout, medium roofing job.

20-Yard Dumpster: Large Jobs

The 20-yard is our most popular size for large residential and light commercial projects. It handles whole-house cleanouts, large remodels, and significant construction debris.

Best for: whole-house cleanout, large remodel, construction debris, commercial light demo.

30-Yard Dumpster: Major Projects

The 30-yard is our largest container, designed for major demolitions, new construction, and large commercial jobs. It holds about 30 cubic yards — roughly 9 pickup truck loads.

Best for: major demolition, new construction, large commercial project, estate cleanout.
