Weight Is the Key Factor
Asphalt shingles are dense — a single square (100 sq ft) of three-tab shingles weighs about 230–250 lbs. A full tear-off on a 2,000 sq ft roof can easily hit 4,000–5,000 lbs of shingles alone.
For roofing jobs, we recommend the 10-yard container for small jobs (1–3 squares) and the 15 or 20-yard for larger tear-offs. Don't try to cram a full roof tear-off into a 10-yard — you'll exceed the weight limit.

A Note on Older Roofs
